100
With that last post, emacs-fu reached the 100 posts milestone! Hurray! Thank you for all the support, it's been a great ride so far, and there's so much more to write about - if only there were 36 hours in a day.
Anyway, to celebrate, I'll be off for the coming weeks (Korea), and I'm not sure if I have much time to blog from there. So, let's take this opportunity for a small reader poll: what would you be interested to read about? More programming-related stuff, more org-mode, more about integration with other programs, more interviews, more …?

Update: I am back now; thanks for all the replies. It seems that many people are interested in CEDET. In fact, I am interested in it myself as well, but am not using it right now, so it will take a while. For the time being, Alex Ott's Gentle Introduction might be the best way to get started.
I'd like to see more on streamlining progrtamming in Emacs. Defining own faces and extending colorschemes, extending existing major modes to allow for another workflow. More org and perhaps some best practices when writing your .emacs could be helpful. Right now, my .emacs.d is a mess with configuration spread out in several files and no real organization. How do you guys handle this?

ReplyDeleteMost useful of your recent posts to me: 23.2, and new/underused workhorse/utility/housekeeping packages: ibuffer, iedit, diminish, midnight. So, more like those, please.

ReplyDeletePersonally I'm interested in org-mode and I'd like to know about is it possibly to organize database-like working with org-mode. How to make 'queries' over 'tables', what are 'fields' etc etc etc...
ReplyDeleteI want to communicate to different devices from within emacs. Example: I have a digital scale with ethernet, it reports each weigh on a simple we interface and can be queried--I want to get that info into a file from within emacs.

I want to write a major mode for CNC G-code files used for editing/programming Computer controlled mills and lathes.

I use the tabs in xemacs all the time, and have 5-7 files open at once usually.
ReplyDeleteclicking on a tab displays the file in that tab. What I want to do is add an opposite click pop-up menu with a choice to close that tab, save file, etc. How do you set up a pop up menu for when you opposite click on a tab?
